"Song writing is about getting the demon out of me. It’s like being possessed. You try to go to sleep, but the song won't let you. So you have to get up and make it into something, and then you’re allowed to sleep."

These words from John Lennon pretty accurately sum up the process of making music for Tiffany Wong. Inspiration seems to strike most frequently at the early hours of the morning. Some of her latest nights have been spent writing and putting together songs, a few of which are featured on her demo Just Another Girl.

At twenty years of age, Tiffany is currently in her third year at The Ohio State University heading down the business school track. A native of Libertyville, Illinois, Tiffany’s music experience began with piano lessons from the age of five. She experimented with her father’s guitar as well, but she did not start seriously playing until the summer after eighth grade, when she bought her first guitar. With only six months of basic lessons and no real formal training, Tiffany found that the ability to play guitar came naturally to her. She composed her first song as a freshman in college, and has been writing songs since. When asked which artists have inspired her, she named Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos as the musicians whose work impacted her most.

While Tiffany was a member of the worship team at her home church, she began performing locally in Columbus, Ohio, just this year. The Buckeyes have had the opportunity to appreciate Tiffany’s music at several campus-related activities, such as APAHM (an Asian Pacific American cultural celebration) and several open mic nights. Off-campus performances include a set at Victoria’s Midnight Café and Pochi Tea Station. Right now, Tiffany’s number one priority is school, but music will always be a major part of her life.
